One of the highlights of the Summer School is the series of superb lunchtime and evening concerts and other entertainment. We are still finalising the programme of events for August 2009 but the likely pattern is as follows:

Saturday 8 21.00 Our ‘ice-breaker’ pub quiz with a musical flavour.
Sunday 9 20.15 Public Concert - details to be announced
Monday 10 13.30 Student recital – Advanced Pianists
  20.15 Young Artist recital
Tuesday 11 13.30 Student recital
  17.50 Singing Workshop performance
  20.15 Student recital
21.00 ‘Private Passions’, introduced by our Music Director and presented by one of our tutors
Wednesday 12 13.30 Student recital by Solo Singers and Piano Accompanists with violinist
  20.15 Student recital
Thursday 13 13.30 Choral students’ concert
  20.15 Student recital
Friday 14 13.30 Young Pianists Concert
19.30 End-of-week concert of student performances, including the Summer School Chorus
21.30 Late-night party and Cabaret for all students and tutors (drinks and snacks provided)

Some venues on site may be available in the late evenings for alternative or extra informal recitals, to be arranged by students with the blessing of the ISSMUS Committee. This may give a chance to perform longer works than can be included in the formal student concerts.

The final late-night Cabaret on Friday night is a well established and often hilarious occasion, a chance for everyone to relax and enjoy a range of (often unsuspected) talent in more light-hearted vein!

It is in our Summer School concerts that the ISSMUS ‘integrated approach to music-making’ becomes most apparent. Last year our concerts featured our esteemed President Bernard Roberts, the awe-inspiring accordionist Milos Milivojevic and some remarkable student recitals including performances of work composed during the Summer School. This year we can promise an equally exciting range of concerts.
